Orji declares for Reps seat ahead of 2027
On Friday in Umuahia, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, announced his plan to contest for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections under the All Progressives Congress.
He made the declaration while addressing a crowd of supporters who visited him, stating that his decision was driven by his desire to serve the people of the constituency and contribute to their development at the national level.
Orji said his past experience in the state assembly has prepared him for the demands of legislative work and the need to deliver results that can improve the lives of constituents. He presented himself as a candidate ready to represent the interests of the people and support growth in the area through effective representation in the National Assembly.
The former Speaker had previously contested for the same seat during the 2023 general elections but was defeated by Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party.
His new bid signals a renewed attempt to secure the seat as political activities begin to gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections.
