On April 15, 2026, in Abeokuta, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, announced that he has stepped down from the Ogun State governorship race and declared support for Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, who has been adopted as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election.
Lemo explained that his decision followed consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state. The development comes shortly after the Ogun APC officially adopted Adeola as its governorship candidate during a meeting held in Abeokuta under the leadership of the state party chairman, Yemi Sanusi.
