The National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the All Progressives Congress, Isaacs Kekemeke, on Tuesday announced his plan to contest the Ondo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, following consultations with party leaders and growing calls from supporters across the district.
Kekemeke made this known in a statement, explaining that leaders of the party, women groups, and youth groups had continued to urge him to step forward and represent the district. He said he also discussed his decision with the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, before declaring his intention.
He stated that his aim is to secure the party’s ticket and offer representation that focuses on the needs of the people of Ondo South. He said he is prepared to serve the district with commitment and a sense of responsibility if given the opportunity.
Kekemeke noted that the support he received from stakeholders strengthened his resolve to join the race, adding that the encouragement from different groups convinced him to accept the challenge.
He also pointed to his past experience in public service, having served in various positions in Ondo State, including roles in the State House of Assembly, the executive arm of government, and within the APC at both state and regional levels.
According to him, his background in governance and party leadership has prepared him to represent the people effectively and contribute to the development of the senatorial district if elected.
