Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abuja on Sunday, where they were registered and given membership cards during a process captured in a video, as political alliances continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The registration was seen in a video that surfaced online, showing Kwankwaso receiving his membership card before Obi, confirming their entry into the party. The event followed earlier private talks held the same day between the two politicians and top figures of the party.
The meeting took place at the residence of Seriake Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State and a key leader in the party. The gathering was held in Abuja and is seen as part of moves by opposition figures to come together and build a stronger front before the next elections.
Both leaders arrived at the venue in the evening and were welcomed by a group of supporters who gathered outside. The supporters, linked to their political base, cheered as the two men entered the residence, showing excitement over the new development.
