A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Muhammad Abdullahi, on Monday obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms in Abuja to contest for the Kogi East Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, declaring his intention to challenge the current lawmaker representing the district.
The forms were collected at the party’s designated office, marking his formal entry into the race as political activities continue to build ahead of the next election cycle.
Abdullahi is aiming to replace the incumbent senator, Jibrin Isah, who belongs to the All Progressives Congress and is also preparing for another term in office.
The PDP aspirant arrived at the venue with a large group of supporters, showing his growing base as he begins his campaign journey within the party.
His decision to contest followed consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and residents across Kogi East, as he positions himself as an alternative for the senatorial seat.
His campaign is expected to focus on development in the district, with plans to improve access to opportunities, attract projects, and strengthen representation at the national level.
He is also building on his record of community support, including efforts in education, small business support, and basic services, which he believes will shape his approach if elected.
Abdullahi plans to promote youth involvement, job creation, and better infrastructure across the district, while also pushing for inclusive leadership that reaches all communities.
He has called for support from party members and voters in Kogi East, as preparations continue for party primaries expected to hold in 2026 ahead of the general elections.
