The decision was announced by the Chief Returning Officer, Zaki Ahmed, during a briefing with journalists at Tashir Guests Palace in Dutse, where collation of results was taking place.
According to the committee overseeing the exercise, the suspension followed concerns raised from different parts of the state over how the primaries were conducted. Reports received by officials pointed to disruptions and issues that affected confidence in the process.
Before the exercise was stopped, results had already been received from 19 of the 27 local government areas in the state. However, officials were still expecting submissions from some councils, including Auyo, Roni and Kazaure.
Party officials explained that several complaints remained unresolved at the time collation was ongoing. There were also reports of electoral irregularities in some local government areas, while security concerns emerged in Gwaram Local Government Area, creating fears that the exercise could deteriorate further.
The development forced the committee to suspend the process indefinitely rather than proceed under disputed conditions.
With the decision, party members and aspirants across the affected categories will now wait for fresh directives from the ADC leadership on when collation will resume and how pending issues will be addressed.
The suspension adds to the growing internal tensions surrounding ongoing party primaries as political parties continue preparations ahead of future elections.
