President Bola Tinubu, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as the ruling party continued preparations for the next governorship race in the state.
The meeting took place shortly after Gwamna secured the APC governorship ticket in the party’s primary election ahead of the 2027 polls. Governor Yahaya formally introduced the candidate to the President, describing the move as part of efforts to maintain unity within the party and ensure continuity in governance after the end of his administration.
During the meeting, Tinubu congratulated Gwamna on his emergence as the party’s flag bearer and praised Yahaya for his role in strengthening the APC in Gombe State. The President expressed confidence in the party’s ability to retain control of the state and continue the programmes and projects carried out under the current administration.
According to a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, Tinubu also commended the governor’s leadership style and his efforts toward maintaining political stability in the state.
The President expressed optimism that the APC would continue to build on its achievements and sustain development across Gombe.
Yahaya, in his remarks, appreciated the President for supporting Gombe State through policies and projects aimed at improving infrastructure and economic growth. He also commended Tinubu’s leadership at the national level, saying it has contributed to strengthening governance and unity across the country.
The governor said the presentation of Gwamna to the President reflected the APC’s determination to remain united and protect the gains recorded in Gombe State over the years. He added that the party was already positioning itself for the 2027 election and working to ensure a smooth transition when his tenure comes to an end.
Political observers view the introduction of Gwamna to the President as an early step in the APC’s strategy to retain power in Gombe State. The ruling party is expected to intensify its preparations in the coming months as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
Gwamna’s emergence and subsequent presentation to Tinubu are seen by party members as part of efforts to consolidate the APC’s position in the state and maintain its dominance in Gombe politics beyond Yahaya’s administration.
