Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has submitted the names of the party’s candidates contesting various positions across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso disclosed this on Thursday, August 20, 2026, through a statement shared on his verified X account, following the completion of the submission process.

The former Kano State governor said the exercise was carried out in collaboration with the party’s National Working Committee and candidates contesting at different levels.

According to him, the names of the candidates were formally presented to the NDC National Leader, former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, after the coordination process was completed.

Kwankwaso thanked the party leadership and the candidates for their cooperation throughout the exercise. He also praised their commitment to the party as it prepares for the 2027 elections.

The NDC vice-presidential candidate said the completion of the process was an important step towards putting together a strong team that would enable the party to compete across different levels of government.

The submission covers candidates from all 19 northern states as well as the Federal Capital Territory, giving the party representation across the northern region ahead of the elections.

The development comes as political parties continue preparations for the 2027 general elections, with candidates being selected, coordinated and presented as parties work to strengthen their structures across the country.

Kwankwaso also expressed confidence in the party’s preparations and said the work ahead remained promising as the NDC continued its efforts to build its electoral structure.

The latest development adds to the growing political activities surrounding the 2027 elections, with major parties and emerging political groups stepping up efforts to position their candidates and campaign structures ahead of the polls.
