ElectionThe All Progressives Congress has appointed Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, as chairman of the Primary Election Committee ahead of the party’s consensus governorship primary scheduled to hold on Monday, 27 October 2025, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, confirmed the appointment in a letter addressed to the Ekiti State APC chairperson. He also named Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as the deputy chairman of the committee.
Other members of the committee include Nikky Ejezie, Elis Abraham, Rufus Bature, Latif Ibirogba, Chibuzor Agu, Gabriel Oyibode, Hope Dike, Shehu Dange, and Taiwo Sunmonu, who will serve as the secretary. The party secretariat will also function as the office of the committee for the consensus primary process.
In a related development, the Electoral Committee Chairperson for the delegate election, Jarret Tenebe, disclosed that 480 members of the party would not participate in the exercise because they have not fulfilled their financial obligations to the APC. He noted that the affected members are spread across all 16 local government areas in the state.
Tenebe assured that the committee aims to conduct a smooth and transparent exercise without internal disputes.The Ekiti State APC chairperson, Sola Eleshin, also welcomed the committee and reaffirmed the party’s readiness for a peaceful and well-organised primary.
The delegate election currently ongoing across the local government areas will confirm the candidacy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who remains the sole aspirant in the governorship race.
