Adeboye Urges Tinubu to End Terror in 90 Days, Seek Diplomatic Solution with U.S.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act swiftly in addressing Nigeria’s worsening insecurity following recent remarks from United States President Donald Trump.

Speaking after the church’s November Holy Ghost Service, themed “The Eve of Glory,” Adeboye called on the president to give Nigeria’s security chiefs a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorist groups and restore peace across the country. He said the ultimatum should come with clear consequences, including dismissal for those who fail to deliver results.

The cleric advised the government to act with urgency and wisdom in handling the situation, warning that failure to do so could attract international action. He urged President Tinubu to open diplomatic talks with Washington and negotiate a 100-day grace period to address terrorism before any foreign intervention is considered.

Adeboye recalled that he had previously offered similar advice to past administrations, including that of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, but noted that the efforts were not sustained. He said the current administration should avoid the same mistake and take decisive action to expose and prosecute the sponsors of terrorism, regardless of their power or influence.

He stressed that no nation should depend on foreign help in matters of national security, warning that while other world powers might verbally condemn any foreign attack on Nigeria, they would not intervene militarily. Adeboye said the Nigerian government must take full responsibility for protecting its citizens and restoring peace across all regions.

He also cautioned against politicising the issue or reducing it to a religious conflict, noting that both Christians and Muslims have suffered from the ongoing violence. Adeboye urged the government to treat the matter as a national emergency and act decisively to end the killings and instability that have plagued the country.

The cleric’s statement comes amid growing global attention on Nigeria’s security challenges following Trump’s warning that the U.S. may take action if attacks on Christians continue. The Nigerian government is yet to issue an official response to the development.
