Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that he will retire from politics after completing his term in office, ruling out any plans to seek another elective position in the future. He made this known in Abia while responding to public discussions triggered by a video that questioned his political ambition beyond his current role as governor.
Otti explained that the issue of what he intends to do after leaving office has come up several times in the past. According to him, he has already made his position clear during earlier interactions with national figures and other stakeholders. He said his decision remains unchanged and that his political journey will end once his tenure as governor is completed.
The governor stated that he has no intention of contesting for any office at the federal or state level after leaving Government House. He added that his goal is to fully step away from public office and allow others to take over leadership responsibilities.
Otti said the decision was taken to ensure that his attention remains on delivering good governance and fulfilling his mandate to the people of Abia State without distractions linked to future political plans. He noted that speculation about his next move could divert focus from the work he was elected to do.
By restating his plan to quit politics, the governor sought to put an end to ongoing debates and reassure residents that his priority is to complete his term with dedication and leave the state better than he met it before withdrawing from political life.
