Wike sends Eid message to Abuja residents

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has extended greetings to residents of Abuja as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fast. He congratulated Muslim faithful for completing the fasting period and urged them to continue living by the values learned during the holy month.

In his message, Wike described Ramadan as a time for reflection, discipline, and spiritual growth. He called on residents to keep showing kindness, forgiveness, and unity in their daily lives even after the fasting period has ended. He also encouraged prayers for Nigeria and its leaders, asking for continued peace and development in the country.

The minister noted that the spirit of sharing and care displayed among Muslims and non-Muslims during Ramadan has helped maintain harmony in Abuja. He added that individuals and organisations contributed to strengthening peaceful coexistence across the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike also spoke about the political activities expected ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that Abuja would witness increased engagements as the nation’s capital. He assured residents that the FCT Administration would ensure a safe and orderly environment for all political events.

He advised residents to remain peaceful regardless of political views, tribe, or background, and to continue supporting unity within the territory and the country at large.

The minister also acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that ongoing policies have improved living conditions and security in the capital city. He expressed hope for continued progress under the current administration.

Wike further assured residents that security agencies are working to maintain peace during the celebration, urging people to go about their activities without fear. He added that the administration remains focused on protecting lives and property while working towards making Abuja a modern and developed city.

He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful celebration and praying for acceptance of their fasting and prayers, while calling for continued unity and cooperation among all residents.
