Tinubu Sets Up 2027 Campaign Council, Names Yari DG, Uzodimma Secretary

President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed as Director-General.


The campaign council was announced by the Presidency on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as the ruling party begins preparations for the next general elections.
Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will act as Vice-Chairman I. The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was named Vice-Chairman II.


Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary of the council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, was appointed Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Assistant Secretary.


The President will be supported by a group of senior political figures serving as advisers. They include former APC National Chairman, Bisi Akande; former Ogun State Governor, Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.


Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General responsible for campaign activities across the southern and northern regions.


They will work alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau in their respective assignments.


Former Edo State Governor and Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, was appointed Deputy Director-General for mobilisation, while President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.


James Faleke, who was involved in the APC’s 2023 presidential campaign, will return as Deputy Director-General in charge of election planning, coordination and monitoring.


The election planning team will include zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones. Senator Olushola Adeyeye will coordinate the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme the South-South, and Senator Uche Ekwunife the South-East.


Muntaqha Rabe will handle the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso will coordinate the North-Central, while Senator Sani Danladi will oversee the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries within the election planning directorate.


The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Banire, SAN, with Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies.
For media and strategic communication, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was named Coordinating Director. He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.


Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors, while Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Temitope Ajayi, Aderonke Arabirin and Frederick Nwabufo were named coordinating secretaries.


Segun Dada, who held a similar position during the party’s 2022/2023 campaign, will return as Director of New Media. Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary of the directorate.


The campaign council also named five spokespersons, with Dele Alake leading the team. Other members are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.


The President directed members of the campaign council to begin work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections. He also asked the heads of the various directorates to bring other party members into the campaign structure where necessary.


The formation of the council marks the beginning of a more organised campaign structure for the APC as the party prepares to defend the presidency and mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.


The President also urged the campaign team to present the administration’s record to Nigerians and promote its economic and governance policies as the election season approaches.
