2027: INEC Releases Final List of 18 Presidential Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for the January 2027 general election.

The commission published the list on Saturday in Abuja, with the document signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony. The candidates are being sponsored by 18 different political parties.

The list contains 16 male presidential candidates and two female candidates. It also includes 14 male and four female vice-presidential candidates.

President Bola Tinubu is listed as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, with Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will contest under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, with former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate.

The Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, is fielding former Anambra State Governor Peter Gregory Obi, while Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso is listed as his running mate.

The Labour Party candidate is Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, with Hajja Bintu Konto as his running mate.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will be represented by Sandy Ojang Onor, with Umaru Babangida as the vice-presidential candidate.

The other presidential candidates and their running mates are Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje and Shehu Hussaini for the Action Alliance; Aliyu Abbas-Bin and Chinazam Ike for the Action Democratic Party; and Kabiru Yusuf and Peace Egobia Ofordile for the Allied Peoples Party.

The African Action Congress is represented by Omoyele Sowore, with Haruna Garba Magashi as his running mate.

Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, with Musa Lawal Daura as his running mate.

The Boot Party will contest with Sunday Adenuga as its presidential candidate and Usman Turaki Mustapha as his running mate.

Moses Olusoji Adebisi is the candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, while Nafisat Usaku Abubakar is his running mate.

The National Democratic Party is fielding Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori as its presidential candidate, with Uchenna Anthony Chukwuemeka as her running mate.

Nkem Esther Okereke is the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement, with Nasir Muhammed Sulaiman as her running mate.

Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, with Kabiru Rabiu as his running mate.

The Social Democratic Party is represented by Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, with Usman Muhammed Bugaje as his running mate.

Peter Ada Agada is the presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party, while Patience Ndidi Key is his running mate.

The Zenith Labour Party is fielding Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu as its presidential candidate, with Hassan Khalid as his running mate.

The four female vice-presidential candidates on the list are Peace Egobia Ofordile of the Allied Peoples Party, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party and Patience Ndidi Key of the Young Progressive Party.

INEC also published the final list of candidates contesting the Senate and House of Representatives elections as part of preparations for the 2027 general election.

The publication of the presidential list gives political parties, candidates and voters the official lineup of contenders for the presidency ahead of the January 2027 poll.
