IG Orders Police Deployment to Eid Prayer Grounds, Public Spaces Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has directed a full-scale deployment of police personnel across Nigeria to safeguard lives and property during the Eid-Al-Fitr celebrations. The order covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, aiming to ensure peace during the festive period.

The police will position tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and the Special Intervention Squad at prayer grounds, recreational centres, highways, motor parks, and other public spaces.

Conventional police officers will also be actively involved in maintaining security, and enhanced surveillance and coordinated patrols will be carried out to prevent criminal activities.

The directive comes as Muslims across the country mark the end of Ramadan and gather for Eid prayers and celebrations. Police authorities have called on residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to maintain safety.

This security operation aims to create an environment where residents can celebrate the festival without fear, and the police are prepared to respond promptly to any emergencies.

The strategy reflects the ongoing commitment to protect citizens and maintain public order during one of the country’s most important religious celebrations.
