National Convention: APC hoarding forms for those already in power – Jijiwa

Jijiwa said the ongoing preparations for the APC national convention had raised concerns among some members who wanted to contest for party positions. According to him, despite meeting the required conditions and making payments, some aspirants were unable to obtain nomination forms.
He explained that the forms were not made available to new or interested members outside the existing leadership circle. Instead, he alleged that those already occupying positions within the party were the ones accessing and using the forms to maintain their roles.
The claim followed reports from convention organisers that all available nomination forms had already been taken. This announcement led to reactions from some party members who believed the process was not open to everyone.
Jijiwa maintained that the situation was not about favouring specific candidates from outside the system but about internal control. He said those in leadership positions allegedly handled the process in a way that allowed them to remain in office without real competition.
He also pointed out that individuals who had shown interest in contesting and fulfilled the requirements were left without access to the forms, raising concerns about fairness within the party’s internal process.
The development comes amid growing discussions within the APC over the conduct of its national convention and how party officials are selected. Some members have called for a more open and transparent system that allows wider participation.
As preparations for the convention continue, the allegations have added to ongoing debates about internal democracy in the party and whether all aspirants are being given equal opportunity to contest for positions.
