In Igboora, within Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress from Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency met on Tuesday and agreed on a zoning arrangement to guide the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The decision was reached during a gathering attended by over 40 party leaders.

The stakeholders resolved that the House of Representatives ticket would be given to Ibarapa North, while Ibarapa Central would produce the party’s candidate for the State House of Assembly. They said the arrangement reflects the wishes of party members at the grassroots and is meant to promote unity within the constituency.

Leaders at the meeting explained that the agreement is aimed at preventing internal disagreements that could affect the party’s performance. They warned that any attempt to change the arrangement could disrupt the growing cooperation among members and weaken the party’s position in future elections.

The stakeholders also linked their decision to lessons from the 2023 elections, where internal conflicts were blamed for poor results in the area. They said the new plan would help create clear direction and improve coordination among party members.
They added that matters concerning the constituency should be handled by members within the area and not influenced by outsiders. According to them, keeping to the agreed structure will help rebuild trust among members and improve the party’s chances in the next election cycle.
The group concluded that maintaining the zoning plan will help strengthen unity and prepare the party for a better outing in 2027.
