Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos Backs Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo community in Lagos State has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made its position known during a reconciliation meeting held in Lagos and convened by Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, leader of the Lagos4Lagos Movement.The meeting was organized to promote unity between Yoruba and Igbo residents in the state following recent tensions caused by building demolitions.

During the gathering, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances of returning to office, describing him as an experienced politician who understands governance and has shown commitment to addressing the country’s challenges.

The group also urged both ethnic communities in Lagos to maintain peace, tolerance, and mutual respect to prevent division and ensure continued development in the state.

The Ohanaeze President General, Chief Sunday Udeh, called on the Lagos State Government to keep engaging the Igbo community and other ethnic groups in dialogue to build inclusiveness and trust.

Other community leaders and business representatives present at the event, including members of the Market Leaders Association of Nigeria, pledged to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election, describing his administration as one that has continued to confront national problems with determination.

Traditional leaders from the Igbo community in Lagos also appealed for stronger unity between Igbos and Yorubas ahead of the 2027 elections. They urged their members to avoid political conflicts and respect their host communities to promote peaceful coexistence.

The meeting ended with a renewed call for collaboration between the two major ethnic groups to strengthen their relationship and ensure stability as the 2027 elections draw closer.
