Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has denied reports claiming he has left the Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, described the speculation as false and politically driven.

He said those behind the rumour were uncomfortable with the governor’s growing popularity and achievements in office.Kanu clarified that Governor Otti remains a dedicated member of the Labour Party and is focused on fulfilling his campaign promises.

He added that the governor’s main goal is to rebuild Abia State through transparency, accountability, and effective governance.He recalled that during the most recent edition of “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” the governor stated that his attention is on serving the people, not on political games or defection talks.

According to Kanu, Otti’s administration continues to uphold the Labour Party’s values by promoting financial discipline, infrastructural renewal, economic stability, and youth empowerment.
He urged residents to disregard the rumours and assured that the governor remains committed to leading Abia under the Labour Party platform with fairness and integrity.
