Those attending the meeting include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Several ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies are also present at the meeting.

The council began its proceedings by observing a minute of silence in memory of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance who served during the administration of former military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.

Alhaji died on July 30, 2026.

The council also paid tribute to Prof. Turner Isoun, who served as Minister of Science and Technology during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Isoun died on July 15, 2026.

Tinubu’s latest FEC meeting comes after the council resumed meetings in June following a break of more than two months.

At the June 29 session, the President swore in two newly appointed commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission shortly before the council meeting began.

The two commissioners were Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State.

The Federal Executive Council is expected to consider government matters and receive updates from various ministries and agencies during Wednesday’s meeting.

Further details of the decisions reached at the meeting are expected to be released after the council concludes its deliberations.
