The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered security officers to take Nnamdi Kanu out of the courtroom after he refused to allow the session to continue in his terrorism trial. The presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, gave the order when Kanu repeatedly insisted that no judgment could be delivered unless the court accepted his written address.

The incident happened shortly after the court began sitting for the day. Kanu raised his voice several times, demanding that the judge show him the part of the law that stopped him from filing a written address in the case. His interruption brought the proceedings to a halt, and security operatives were directed to escort him out of the courtroom so the judge could continue with the session.

Earlier, Justice Omotosho had ruled on fresh motions filed by Kanu. The court dismissed them, stating that the issues raised were the same ones the defendant had brought before. The judge also rejected Kanu’s request to send the matter to the Court of Appeal, pointing out that the law does not allow the suspension of a criminal trial once it has started.

The court again refused Kanu’s request for bail but stated that some of the concerns he raised would be addressed during the reading of the final judgment. As the judge prepared to begin the judgment, Kanu again protested, insisting that the court lacked the power to proceed without his written address.
His repeated objections led to the order for his removal so the court could carry on without further disturbance.
